Flat-pack assembly in Cirencester
IKEA, Argos, Wayfair and John Lewis furniture built properly, with the right tools and a sensible eye for dodgy instructions.
Flat-pack furniture looks straightforward on the box. By the time you have lost a cam lock down the back of the sofa and tightened a panel upside down, the afternoon is gone. Martin assembles flat-pack in Cirencester and the surrounding villages, usually much faster than a first-time build.
What is included
IKEA, Argos, Wayfair, John Lewis, Dunelm, MADE, Habitat, and the odd German or Scandinavian brand that turns up on eBay. Wardrobes (including IKEA PAX, which are the trickiest of the lot), beds, bed frames, slatted bases, headboards, chests of drawers, bookcases, desks, bedside tables, TV units, dining tables and chairs, garden furniture, storage units, children's cots and beds.
Martin checks the parts list against the inventory before starting. A missing dowel or cam lock means a trip to the shop, and catching that early saves you a half-built wardrobe blocking the bedroom overnight.
What is NOT included
Anything that needs significant modification, like cutting panels to fit an awkward alcove, falls outside a standard assembly job. Fixing wobbly furniture that somebody else built badly is possible, but honestly it is often quicker to start again.
How long it takes
A bedside table is about 30 minutes. A standard chest of drawers, an hour. A double bed frame with headboard is one to two hours. A PAX wardrobe with drawers and fittings can be three to five hours depending on the configuration. Martin will give you a realistic estimate before starting so you can plan the day.
Pricing
First hour £55, each hour after £35. A half-day rate of £125 often works out best for larger items like wardrobes or multi-piece bedroom sets. Free travel within five miles of Cirencester. Rubbish removal (flattened cardboard and polystyrene to your recycling bins, or taken to the tip for a small charge) is available if you would rather not deal with it.
Common questions
What if a part is missing? Martin will stop, photograph the missing piece and the order number, and help you log a replacement claim. If it is a common fitting, he may have a spare in the van.
Can you attach it to the wall? Yes. Tall wardrobes and chests should be wall-anchored for safety, and Martin does that as part of the job if the wall type allows.
Do you take the packaging away? If you prefer, yes. Flattened cardboard and polystyrene can go in your bins or to the tip.
