Accompanying to appointments in Cirencester

Getting to a hospital appointment in Cheltenham or Gloucester is often harder than the appointment itself. Parking at Cheltenham General on a Tuesday morning is its own ordeal. I drive you, wait while you're in, and bring you home.

What is included

GP surgery visits in Cirencester and the villages. Hospital appointments at Cheltenham General, Gloucestershire Royal, the Great Western in Swindon, or private clinics. Dentist, optician, audiology and hearing aid appointments. Solicitor meetings, bank meetings, funeral directors. I drop you at the entrance, park, walk you in if you'd like, wait, and drive you home when you're ready. Parking is added to your bill at cost.

What is NOT included

I'm not a medical escort. I won't give medical advice, won't take notes inside the consultation unless you ask and the clinician agrees, and won't make decisions on your behalf. If you need a full medical escort, the hospital patient transport service is the right option.

How long it takes

A GP visit in Cirencester: one to two hours door to door, including the wait. A Cheltenham or Gloucester hospital appointment: typically two to four hours with the drive each way. Longer waits happen and are normal. I stay as long as you need.

Pricing

The first hour is £55 and includes getting to you if you're within five miles of Cirencester. After that it's £35 an hour, charged in half-hours. Longer appointments often cost less as a half day (4 hours, £125) or a full day (8 hours, £230). Further out, I charge 45p for each mile beyond the first five, there and back. I'll tell you the total before setting off.

Common questions

Will you sit in on the consultation? Only if you want me there and the clinician is comfortable with it. Most people prefer me to wait outside.

Can you remember what was said? If you want me to take rough notes, I will. But don't rely on me to remember dosages or medical instructions. Ask the receptionist for a printed summary.

Do you carry a first aid kit? Yes, a basic one in the car.
